From students, colleagues, producers, professors, and other great musicians...
At Columbia University, the students who succeed have an entrepreneurial disposition. Nesly stormed into our program, starting ensembles, composing music, saying yes to every opportunity. She became the face of Teachers College, the very illustration of what we hope our students become: smart, creative, independent, hardworking, and very musical. Randall Everett Allsup (Writer of Remixing the Classroom: Toward an Open Philosophy of Music Education)
I had both private and group singing lessons with Nesly and since the first day she always emphasized musicality as a whole and not just one specific aspect. She taught me to be comfortable in my own voice and how to love my own sound, while encouraging me to be the best singer I can be. She always comes prepared to lessons, and includes fun improv exercises. She's got great singing tips alongside words of encouragement and her lovely smile as well! Overall, fantastic musician! Her love for music just shines - be it through her performances, her songwriting, and most especially through her teaching. Jazz Digao (Voice Student, 27 y/o)
Being energetic, affable, professional, open-minded, and detail-oriented, to me Nesly is an excellent vocal coach, and a close friend as well! In professional scenarios, she stands out for her ability, affection, and sense of humor, and she treats students with full patience, responsibility, and encouragement. I see the endless curiosity, and positive attitude towards exploration throughout Nesly's teaching, performances, and daily practices! I absolutely enjoy working with her! Cornelia Wang (voice student)
Nesly K's musicianship and precise control of her voice makes the creative process so fluid and effortless. Working with her is always a pleasure and a joy! Kerim Wilhelm (Grammy-nominated Sound Engineer @ Corner Store Studios, Brooklyn NY)
Nesly's musicality runs deep. She is a passionate performer and educator and a wonderful collaborator! Nicole Becker, Every Voice Choirs
I believe her contributions in the area of children's singing will have a high impact on the field, and I look forward to following her career in the future. Nesli is an inquisitive and thoughtful scholar-musician-educator. Her work in my course, Children's Musical Development, was impeccable; she produced well-researched papers whose content demonstrated how musical expertise and sensitivity to children's musical play can both inform pedagogy. Lori Custodero (a leading researcher in the Music Ed field, co-author in over 40 research publishments and Issues in Music Education: Contemporary Theory and Practice)
Nesly K’s voice is timeless, flexible, effortless, and can transcend genres with great ease. Her songwriting is innovative, fresh, and bursting with passion. Her teaching is dynamic, energetic, authentic. Beyond her infinite creativity and immense talent, she is so enjoyable to work with. Her energy and passion for music is absolutely infectious— it makes her a light in any music room. She also has a way about her to make you feel instantly comfortable— a genuineness that comes naturally. Nesly knows no bounds and has the quality that every musician should possess— the hunger to never stop challenging and never stop growing. Natalie Fabian (Teaching colleague, band-mate, composer, arranger, voice teacher and more!)
Nesly is an absolute pleasure to work with! She has a beautiful, unique tone to her voice and matched with her strong control she is able to display her greater understanding of music and melody. Along with an intuitive ear for harmony, her electric stage prescence makes for an awesome show!
Nesly entered our program with an open heart and mind, ready to learn and grow as a music educator. Through her grit, determination, and passion, Nesly quickly became a strong teacher who listened carefully to children’s ideas and led fun and engaging classes for our young population of students.
